5 September 2013

As reported earlier, from 15 to 17 of August 2013 in Moscow there was a meeting of the AIMS Board of Directors as part of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. During the meeting there were discussed the current activities of the Association and the further development of the international marathon movement.  One of the results of this meeting became the decision of the creation the Institute of the AIMS Ambassadors in different areas. Inna Chernoblavskaya, the Manager of External Affairs in the Direction of Siberian International Marathon, became an AIMS Ambassador in Russia and Russian-speaking territories.

For the first time this kind of meeting was organized in Russia. Konstantin Podbelskiy, the Race Director of the Siberian International Marathon, became the initiator of this event with the support of the Interstate Corporation for Development.

The President of AIMS, Paco Borao, expressed his respect and thanks personally to Mr. Konstantin Podbelskiy, Mrs. Inna Chernoblavskaya and Mr. Ivan Polyakov ( CEO of the Interstate Corporation for Development) for a warm welcome and friendly environment provided during the stay in the Russia’s capital for the heads of AIMS (which was composed of 15 members from 11 countries).

“Actually, we achieved more than we expected, with such a high levl of logistical support, facilities, and association with those people in Russia most deeply involved in the Running movement. The activities allowed us to meet in the best possible circumstances and share with them some on-going projects. I really believe that Russia has an enormous potential to further develop marathon and distance races. We would be pleased to be part of this, contributing to the international sporting and social progress of such a great country in so many aspects, even more now with the new AIMS Ambassador in Russia who is the part of professional team of SIM”.
